# accelerated ketosis of childhood
Aka **hypoglycaemic ketosis**
- usually toddler with URTI and vomiting
- +/- [[hypoglycaemia|hypoglycemia]]
- Ketones is a physiological response to starvation usually
- \>0.6 abnormal
- \>3-4 may cause symptoms (tummy pain, etc)
- ==in infants <6 months== need to screen for inborn errors of metabolism
- Also need screening if kid looks flat/sick, pale/sweaty
> hypoglycaemia without ketones response is concerning
