- Deliberate self-poisioning with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) is common and usually follows a benign course. Serotonin toxicity develops in a small minority.
- Severe [[Serotonin Syndrome]] does not develop unless there is co-ingestion of other serotonergically active drugs.
- Mild serotonin syndrome occurs in less than 20% and manifests as anixety, tremor, tachycardia, bradycardia and mydriasis.
